downshifting
« on: April 17, 2015, 08:46:44 PM »

Just curious how you fast guys downshift, do you click one gear at a time or bang two or three gears then ease the clutch out  to back it into the corner?

Personally I shift one gear at a time as closely together as possible while blipping the throttle

I also shift one at a time, engaging the clutch and blipping the throttle between each shift.  It can seem like a whole lot going on at first but after you get accustomed to doing it, it becomes second nature.

I suggest getting on a small dirt bike and practicing blipping, shifting and breaking at the same time.  Do it every time and make it a habit before you try to do it at your pace on the big bike.

Block down shifter here. Hard on the brakes into T1 at VIR, focus on my markers and line, then once I have it all sorted, bang down 3 gears and blip.

One gear at a time always releasing the clutch between each gear

ditto...other techniques seem to upset the bike too much (for me)
