Race fuel
« on: April 10, 2015, 06:37:30 PM »

Hey guys a friend of mine has a race car that is out of commision right now and he told me i can have his race fuel at a cheap price , because according to him it goes bad after a while.  Its 104 octane  VP   i believe. Are there any pro's or con's to running this in a stock bike,  i run an 02 zx6r, with a k&n filter and slipon, otherwise its stock..

If the fuel is leaded and you still have a catalytic converter it won't work

From what I understand the lead will clog the catalytic converter

Also, the only real plus from what i've heard, unless you have a built engine that requires that level of octane, is that it won't have any ethanol in it. Higher octane is higher resistance to burn so in theory you might not ignite all the fuel in a stock bike.

I wouldn't bother unless cheap is less than pump fuel.  :2cents:

Riding behind a bike running race fuel is one of life's small pleasures :)

Also if it is oxygenated you need to drain it and run it out of system. Unless you want to learn your fuel system on a biblical level.

Speaking of race fuel I ran out of regular and put some pretty tame 98 octane 260 gtx in my push mower. Well it ran about 5 minutes and the plug was toast
