Canopy fabric repair - what do you use?
« on: June 11, 2019, 07:00:54 AM »

Finally getting a chance to dry out my canopies from the slightly damp weekend at VIR and I noticed that my PRE canopy has about an inch-and-a-half cut in it. Clean tear and it doesn't look to be in an area that is stressed too badly, although any wind that whips through it will certainly make it worse...

I have a stunt kite repair kit that has nylon ripstop repair tape in it - but I thought I'd ask the group what you've done if you've had to fix a similar issue...

I would think the ripstop repair material would work just fine.  Your stunt kite sees a lot more wind force than you canopy should ever see.  If your shade canopy experience those kind of forces, it is likely already scattered about the pits in pieces.

Tommy and Susan fixed some rips in Jordan’s canopy. Might check with them.

The material is 600D Poly if you need to make a patch I am sure you could find the material on line.

I've gotten some advice from the experts

I was mainly worried about something that would continue to be *waterproof* and be resistant to tearing further given how much these things are stretched when they're...well...erected
