It looks close to new with very little wear at all.

So it's a used helmet?

From the description it will pass tech. Something to think about though. You don't know all of the history of a used helmet. It's probably fine, but you don't know for sure. Head injuries are not that uncommon. For me personally I would never by a used helmet. I wouldn't think twice about wearing a new in the box 2009 helmet, but not a used one. A lot can happen in nine years.

It is used, but really only in name.

I feel comfortable wearing it and I am a safety nut.

I do have a couple of other options, if the X-12 doesn't pass muster.  Arai Defiant and Shoei GT Air.

BTW, I am now officially signed up now.

Fireman did you purchase the helmet used or you purchased it new? And you know the history since purchase?

No, I didn't purchase it new. I do know that it only has about 4-5k miles on it and has been sitting on the top shelf of a dark closet for the last couple of years.

If you're already planning on 4-5 track days next year, I recommend a new helmet.   PRE will use some common sense about helmets, but a lot of organizations (car & bike) require helmets less than 5 years old.  I have to buy a new one before next year myself.  Nothing but track days on this one, but it will be 5 in February.  Too much riding on it IMO.

BTW, be sure to take the family to VIR.  It is set up very nicely for family trips.

The Arai Defiant and Shoei GT Air would both be fine as a track helmet at first. If they are newer I would probably wear one of those.

I will bring multiple helmets...

On another topic: Will there be someone onsite to help with suspension setup? I haven't ever properly setup my VFR and this would be a great time to do it.

MaxSpeed Cycles will be there to sling some rubber and can help you get set up.

I spoke with them on Friday and we are meeting up Saturday afternoon for a suspension setup.

We plan on setting up the Toy Hauler Saturday afternoon and hanging out the rest of the evening.

What time do the sessions go to? I would like to have the chance for my wife and son to see some riding Saturday, to help ease their concerns for me on Sunday.

I just wanted to thank everyone for an outstanding time Sunday at CMP. It was an absolute blast and I plan on being at VIR at the end of the month and most, if not all of the events next year.

I know my Patriotic Pig was probably the slowest(and most comfortable :)) bike out there, but I felt like 10 times the rider at the end of the day, than at the beginning.

I am riding the VFR at VIR, but plan on finding something more track oriented, this winter.

Allen, glad to hear you had a good time at CMP. I didn’t get over your way to say hello but I’m pretty sure I met your son. Well, I assume unless there was another Patriotic Pig at CMP, LOL. He was  recounting his experience waving the checker and also informing me of his paddock lap count. Seemed like he enjoyed the track too ;)

Hope to see you at VIR in a few weeks
