Good afternoon all,

I wanted to drop by and introduce myself.  After an almost 9 year hiatus, marriage and a kid, I've decided to finally get back into track days.  I've done CMP a few times this year so far and am looking forward to getting back to the South Course where I popped my cherry back in 2008.  I understand that old Willow Tree is no longer there.  I've heard nothing but great stuff from some guys who have ridden with you in the past so i'm really excited about it. I'll be on my trusty 2000 Ducati 748.

I have one question to ask you guys as it's been so long and I was traveling under different circumstances in the past.  I have an open trailer now and I wasn't sure what was the best way to deal with parking it while spending the night in a hotel.  Is it a good idea to unload at the paddock and just lock everything up or should I just take her with me and keep her all with me at the hotel? I'm thinking of staying somewhere in Danville as everything else is sold out.  I had heard stories in the past of things "disappearing" and, well, that's what happened to my last trailer...hence the hiatus.

Thanks again for any insight and i'm looking forward to getting back out.

Welcome to Pre.  Your best bet will be to come to the Paddock first and get everything set up and leave your trailer there.  Nothing will happen to it, we are all a big family at the track so nothing to worry about.  I wouldn't want to leave my bike on an open trailer at any hotel, anywhere for that matter.   This will also make it easier for you getting ready in the morning having things already setup.  Just my  :2cents:

Welcome to PRE!

What Andrew said is what you should do. You might also check into seeing if anything is available at the VIR lodge. It's much closer than Danville, lol. That's about the only hotel where I wouldn't be too worried about leaving my bike.

Thank you all.  That's what I was hoping to hear!  The 17th can't get here soon enough.

Welcome and Great looking bike!!

I concur with John and Andrew. I always leave my stuff in the paddock the night before. And check with VIR. They have rooms on site which is where I usually stay.

Look forward to seeing you there

3rd for VIR rooms. $100 a night and they are nice rooms. Nothing like opening the door from the hotel and walk out looking at the track.

Hi Joe - welcome to PRE and nice Duc!

As everyone has already said - you can feel 100% comfortable leaving your bike and gear at a PRE track day overnight. I've heard stories too and you don't need to worry about that at a PRE track day.

Although the old Oak Tree is gone now VIR South is still a great place to ride since you've been gone. Actually, it may be even better with the new pavement and the ability to see through Oak Tree turn earlier (despite the nostalgia).

Oh - and +1 on staying at VIR if you're looking for accommodations. My first time riding the track before we relocated to Raleigh my wife and I stayed for  2 nights and it was great!

Looking forward to meeting you and putting in some good laps next weekend.

Tar Heal is running North and we are at South. Check for a room fast as they sell out fast on a big weekend. Welcome back to the track. South is one of the best little tracks there is.

Bring a generator if you have one. There is power at South but it is certainly limited. Is it time to ride!!!!

The first thing I did was check with VIR and they only do double nights.  Being that we are only staying for one night/day, we're going to have to stay somewhere else.  Thank you again guys.  Hearing it from so many definitely makes my mind rest easier.  I'll still have her locked up like Fort Knox but who wouldn't?

Looking forward to meeting you guys and learning as much as I can.

Thank you

If you call and talk to someone they generally will help you out. At least in my experience in staying there.

If you call the week of they usually drop the multiple night requirement if they haven’t sold out.
