Here at TSG, we are busy working on cleaning, conditioning and repairing leathers for the upcoming season - which brings me to the topic of this discussion.
The body salt left behind on your gear's zipper can really cause serious damage in a very short period of time.
Take a look at these photos. Can you see the metal actually being eroded away?
Now is the time to check your leathers for this kind of breakdown. If you do see a turquoise crusty build up on your zipper, you can use a good de-salting solution and an old toothbrush to remove it easily before it eats away the metal completely.
Then we recommend using a good zipper lube or you can apply a little bees wax or vaseline to the zipper pull, then work it in with a few pulls.
We hope this tip helps to preserve and take good care of your leathers.
Happy Holidays!
Tommy and Susan
