Road atlanta question
« on: April 15, 2018, 07:05:20 PM »

Hey guys just a few questions about Road Atlanta.  Never been before and trying to get everything ready.
First, is there power available and plenty of hook ups, dnt need rv hookup, just enough for tire warmers and a hot plate lol..
Second, is the paddock grass or paved, bringing a tent, so just checking so i know what all to bring?
Last, Do they allow pit bikes?  And any need for the pitbike,or are facilities,  (bathroom, shower) close to pits?
Thanks in advance

I haven't been there in 3 years so perhaps they've made some improvements.  Having said that...

Power:  I've always found the power to be iffy at best.  I think it really depends on where you hook up.  I haven't found the magic spot yet.
Sometimes it was perfect.  Other times it didn't provide enough wattage to run a single set of tire warmers.  Bring a generator if you can, I will be.

Paddock: Paved.  Can't tell you any more about camping than that.  Not my cup of tea.

Pit bikes:  Don't have one, don't know.  Sorry I'm not much help here.

Power has been improving but can be an issue depending on how many people are trying to use. Last year there seemed to be enough power. Again geny as mentioned not the worst idea. You can camp but paddock is paved. Plenty of places to set up a tent. Pit bikes are ok.

There are plenty of porta potties and a mobile bathroom you can use...

The showers will have (at least they didn't last year) no hot water and *a few* mosquitoes...

There are a couple locations of showers. On the other side of start finish which involves a walk over the bridge or a ride up and around. The other shower locations would also require a ride as they are up and down some big hills.

I believe this is the standard for showering at RA: No hot water and well...umm... itchy at best.  Free dose of Malaria at worst?  eek.   :nada:

I have never heard of anybody having a good experience.  I have heard a few racers say they drive to the local truck stop and shower there.  Pack your shower shoes.

The bathrooms on the other side of the paddock have hot water, electricity, and zika. Pit bike is the best way to get there unless you like spiders, then just walk across the bridge.

Those spiders are the highlight of my trip aside from the track riding and meet-n-greeting :)

The bathroom in the old paddock have hot water. Very hot water. A pit bike is almost required at RA because it's so spread out. As usual I'll cover all of the most frequently asked questions in the email.

No sir.  I'm afraid that is incorrect.  Do not pass go.  Do not collect $200.      :D

They are continuing to make improvements to the facility. I didn't go over to the bathroom in the old paddock over the weekend so I don't know if they've done anything there or not, but what you see as you drive around looks noticeably nicer.
