Coolant reservoir bottle - show me your setup!
« on: April 15, 2018, 06:29:25 AM »

Thinking of adding one to the R6 because (1) I can't leave well enough alone, (2) I like the tidiness of the setup and (3) it helps me *look* like I have a more professional go-fast motorsickle!   :D

Seriously, though - benefits to the smaller reservoir over the stock setup? It's about the same cost as buying a used OEM reservoir off eBay - but the used parts I'm seeing look like they've been filled with Virginia red clay. No idea what has stained the insides of the bottles I'm seeing.

Your thoughts?

I’ve never installed an aftermarket bottle, but I’m thinking the advantage is that it provides a more secure way to hold the fluid. You can reposition it in a part of the bike that is less prone to damage in a crash. Just speculating. I’m also interested to seeing what those with experience are doing and why.

I never open the radiator. When the bottle shows low I add.

Mike: That bottle on your R1 looks like it might be one of these, yes?

That's a nice setup.  Thanks for sharing!

Both of mine are stained pink'ish-red yes.  I assume it is a by-product of using watterwetter.  I asked Jim about the red in my overflow bottle of my R6 and he said its absolutely nothing to worry about.

Mike - I'll come holler atcha this weekend at NCBike. I have the MP bottle and I'd like to add it to mine - I'm thinking the upper fairing stay is a good spot to add a bracket, but I'd like to see what input you have too.....
